The Iro and Buba is pronounced (“ee-roe”) and (“boo-bah”) is a very popular attire in Africa and among Yorubas. Commonly rocked by Yoruba woman’s traditional outfit. The African print style can appear in a variety of fabrics. Aso Oke, Aso Ebi, Ankara prints, Lace fabrics, and more can be used in styling up Iro and Buba attires. And they can be rocked for diverse occasions – formal, weddings, date nights, casual occasions, etc.

Iro and Buba styles are generally worn by Nigerian Yoruba women. It commonly consists of 3-piece clothing. But originally, the Iro and Buba attire is a five-piece clothing. It consists of the Iro which is the largest and a wrapper that is tied around the women’s waists. Then the Buba – a loose-fitted blouse – worn on top of the Iro.

The Gele is the third which is wrapped around the head of Yoruba women. Pele if the fourth, and it is a fabric shorter than the Iro, and is tied around the waist over the Iro. Then the fifth piece is the Iborun which is often placed over the shoulder of the wearer.
