The world seemed to have switched from politicians running for president to celebrities running for president. It all seemed to have happened when Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election, and while that election may have been the election of a lifetime, we could not help but noticed what politics now were considered “Hollywood. The problem with this is that the debate is now open “Should celebrities run for president”? And what happened to politicians running for president?
When running for president, You usually have some political background or the child of a former president. But now that just is not the case. It seems that anyone can run for president.
During the 2016 election, Kanye West decided that he wanted to run for president in 2020. And nothing was really mentioned again about it until recently when Kanye decided that he was in fact going to run for president in 2020. Now, this was welcomed with highly mixed reviews. A lot of people want Trump out of the office and are not sure how they feel about Joe Biden. So Kanye running was kind of a relief to some and added anxiety to others. Let’s take a look at Kanye West’s background and why he decided to run for president.
Getting to know Kanye
You probably have heard about Kanye, A successful rapper with his own high end clothing brand called “Yeezy” Also known for being married to Kim Kardashian. Kanye has been extremely controversial in the past often sparking outrage based on some of his lyrics and comments. We have gotten to know Kanye a lot more over the years thanks to his marriage with reality star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian.
Kanye was born in Atlanta Georgia June 8th, 1977, and relocated to Chicago where he called home. Kanye came into the music scene in the early 2000s as a producer for “ROC A FELLA RECORDS” in 2004 Kanye released his debut album called college dropout to very successful reviews. And from there Kanye’s career took off. He became one of the big dogs in the rap game right next to JZ. Kanye has released 9 albums and countless collaborations with other artists. In 2004 he created GOOD music which is his production company.
Controversial Kanye
Throughout the years Kanye has received criticism from other artists for his conduct and his views on certain things. You may remember his highly publicized 2009 VMA stunt where he crashed the stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for the best female music video to where he said Beyonce should have been the winner. That sparked outrage as well as a decade long feud with Swift.
Though throughout the years the controversy would continue with West being more and more outspoken about things. Through social media and his music and especially during his first presidential campaign which we will get into more about later.
The loss of his mother
In November of 2007, West’s mother Donda West passed away due to heart issues as well as complications for plastic surgery that she had gotten. She was not qualified health wise to receive elective surgeries. When she passed away the governor of California at the time Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the “Donda West Law” which would require patients going through elective surgery to b be given a physical and must pass in order to receive the operation they are looking to get. Kanye has publicly said that his mother’s death is something that he will never be able to get over.
The Kardashians
In 2012 Kanye began dating long time friend and reality star Kim Kardashian, while she has been known for her own controversial things the relationship seemed like it was going to last and in 2013 they welcomed their first child North West. During a recent presidential campaign, Kanye publicly said that he wanted Kim to have an abortion as he was not ready to become a father. Although the abortion never took place they now have four kids ranging from 7 years to 1 year.
Kim who has the ever popular show “Keeping up with the Kardashians” has said that she feels like Kanye is her soul mate. Although it has not always been smooth sailing in their relationship they have made it work. Kanye is not a fan of the reality show and rarely appears on the show.
President Kanye
When Kanye starting his presidential campaign many were shocked and worried. It has been publicly stated that Kanye suffers from Bipolar disorder although he is for the most part able to control it he does have a bipolar episode about once a year and those can last a while. During his 2020 Presidential campaign, it had been revealed, that Kanye was in the midst of a bipolar episode. While it is unclear if Kanye will win the 2020 election sources say that he actually does have a really good chance of willing as a lot of millennials are for Kanye.
