American rapper, Jay-Z has been noted by Forbes as the first hip-hop artiste to become a billionaire.

Forbes magazine survey Jay-Z whose real name is Shawn Carter’s empire and has determines that it “conservatively totals $1 billion.”

Shawn Carter’s empire spans in streaming service, real estate, art, music, liquor and stakes in other companies.

It also notes that he built his own brands: the Rocawear clothing line (sold for $204 million in 2007); D’Ussé, a cognac he co-owns with Bacardi; Tidal, the music-streaming service; and his multifaceted Roc Nation music and sports empire.
