Celebrity Gossip And Humour Nigerian Celebs

Nigerian Yoruba actress, Mercy Aigbe has been quoted saying that featuring in movies alone can never get her bills paid.

Mercy Aigbe revealed in an interview that she will not be where she is, if she solely relied on movies. This statement however comes at a time when some people thinks she plays her way with wealthy politicians.

Mercy in reaction said she is a very industrious person that makes her own money. Apart from featuring in several movies, she also has a robust boutique.

While in chat with Sunday Scoop, Mercy disclosed that the urge for success is what drives her. She added that her passion is centred around acting and fashion. This she said has been transferred to one of her children, who she claims has shown great interest in acting.

In her words, she said:

“My son is showing interest in acting and I usually say that whatever my children want to do, I’m going to give them 100 per cent support.”

On the trend of Yoruba movies making it to the cinemas, Mercy said that she would prefer to say that the trend has been revived rather than say it as a new development. She recalls how she visits the cinema with her siblings many years back.

Mercy said the cinema is a real avenue from movie producers to make their money. But then, she rather will not disclose if home videos or cinema fetch her better money.

In response, she said that both of the avenues are good to producers and that movies in cinemas do not have short life span as some people claim. She added that people will keep demanding if it is good, and it would keep showing on cinemas which are even costlier when purchasing tickets, unlike DVDs that are cheap.

“As long as people demand your film, it will keep showing. DVDs are cheap while cinema tickets are costlier. We can also sell our movies to online TV channels,” she said.
