What May Happen When You Do The Unthinkable

The bell rang that day.

The feeling was great. Mr Aliyu, our mathematics teacher had threatened to serve us some hot lashes following poor performance in his class test.

Redemption came to us after he received a call and in no time hurried out of the class. We were still busy picking the pieces of our unassured hope, then the closing bell came chiming.

It was accompanied with a great shout of triumph! Well, that was for my own class. But for the others, maybe the bell should never toll solitary.

Soon I was outta the school gate with a friend.

We took a walk as usual to keep some change in our pocket. Change we had already expended during breaktime ‘orisirisi.’ Change we did not even enjoy alone. Our clique of friends who think it is their birthright to take part of whatever we got for break. But the time to trek, here we are doing the trekking alone….I think most students who lived far did too.

We had only walked a short distance when we saw quite a large group of people, crowd around by the side of the road. I became curios, especially since the group consisted more of fellow students. Let me not come and carry last on this one. I quickly carried my gossip ministry across the road. I cannot come and be served dem-say news. Hehehe…

My friend joined. We hadn’t completely crossed to the other side of the road when the sight of what I saw shook me to the marrows.

A classmate and colleague of mine, was actually taking the centre stage!

Short Emmanuel, popularly known as Pastor within the school, could now be clearly seen speaking in tongues vigorously and sweating profusely over a popular mentally deranged man.

My bros wants to heal a madman! Lol. And trust my people to feed their eyes with the miracles about to go down.

Well, since God does his things in mysterious ways, who then are we to judge?

Okay. And my Pastor-friend’s courage also deserved credit. He prayed earnestly in the middle of the crowd so much that even the mentally ill man just seem to sit down there cool-headed, like whatever is happening isn’t even his business.

Ten…twenty…thirty minutes… Large crowd had reduced to a sizeable number.

It had began to look like nothing special will happen that day. But how will my Pastor-friend tell us this is going to be a series, and we would have to end this, so we could watch out for the next part? Hehehe…

But then, the unthinkable happened.

Mentally ill man started receiving sense as he laid on bare ground. Like hiving a sigh of relief, Pastor had began singing songs to call it a day. Yea. The Unthinkable had been done. And yes, this is beyond the works of men.

Halleluyah! Glory! Glory!!

Suddenly! Man jumped up and dashed uncontrollably down the roadside laughing weirdly! Lol! Could this be the miracle?

Pastor-friend moved himself however. He had tried his best.

But before we graduated from the school, my calm, composed, peaceable and prayerful Pastor-friend had began verbally cursing and cussing about with unbuttoned shirts and nonchalant and carefree attitudes.

But then…he wasn’t deranged.
