Even though putting on certain kind of obscene dresses is becoming a trend in many parts of the world today, some cultures still will not go down with the fad. Egypt is one. A conservative country especially with a larger society of muslim citizens.

An Egyptian actress was caught up in one of the situations in which she sparked outrage after she chose to appear in an attire many Egyptians deemed ‘indecent.’

 

Egyptian Actress Rania Youssef, who had appeared at the Cairo Film Festival in black see-through attire is now at risk of being jailed for up to five years.

 

The attire she chose for the event had all her legs in full public glare. But many will just not let it pass.

 

Youssef is to go on trial on charges of “inciting debauchery” even though many kicked against the charges, saying that she should be able to wear whatever she wanted, a judicial source had revealed to AFP.

 

The charges which were laid by two prominent lawyers, Amro Abdelsalam and Samir Sabri was also backed by The Egyptian Actors Syndicate which had criticized the appearance if some of the guests, saying it undermined the festival and union.

 

The 44-year-old actress, Youssef has however been remorseful over the whole incidence. She revealed in a social media post that she probably miscalculated in choosing to put on the indicted dress. She also promised to be committed to the values of Egyptian society.

The trial against the actress is expected to come up next month; January 12 precisely. And she may be jailed for up to five years
