The United State is experiencing the most severe cases of the Coronavirus crisis. The country became first on the planet to hit a record of 2,000 deaths within 24 hours and massive 500, 000.
The US is quite close to Italy’s record of 18,849 in death toll within 24 hours. This new record is the deadliest experienced so far, from the pandemic in any country.
New York City garners almost 50% of the total death toll on record in the Unted States. Over seven thousand (7000) deaths has been recorded in the state.
New Jersey comes behind New York in worst hit in the US. The state records a massive 54,588 figure in infections. Deaths toll is put at 1, 932.
And despite some positive results in the battle against the pandemic in new York City, a member of the coronavirus taskforce in the White House, Dr Fauci has warned against any move in relaxing the lockdown issued by the government.
In an interview with CNN on Friday, Fauci revealed;
‘What we’re seeing right now is favorable signs. We would want to see a clear indication that you were very, very clearly and strongly going in the right direction, because the one thing you don’t want to do is you don’t want to get out there prematurely and then wind up back in the same situation.’
He added that the virus largely decides whether or not it would be appropriate to relax the lockdown. He revealed that several other factors also determines the next move.
Dr Fauci went on;
‘We’re going in the right direction, let’s keep in that direction,’
‘Obviously we’re looking for the kinds of things that would indicate that we can go forward in a gradual way to essentially reopen the country to a more normal way,’
