Dozens of nurses had their eyes on Jussie Smollett’s medical records and got fired for it.
The investigation was recently opened by the Chicago PD’s Chief of Detectives due to concerns that someone within the force was leaking the information.
Investigators involved indicated that some ‘inaccurate’ information over Jussie Smollett’s case have been finding its way into the media and the department wants to determine how it got out.
A Chicago Police Department spokesman said:
‘A lot of the information out there was inaccurate and there were numerous agencies involved in this investigation. As a standard procedure when there are allegations of information being leaked, an internal investigation has been opened and we are also looking at our vulnerabilities.’
An attorney for Jussie Smollett has previously backlashed the Chicago police department over its investigation which was recently opened due to concerns that an insider was leaking out information; but the attorney claimed the leaks were an attempt to skewer the Empire actor.
